Careers Fair 2018

There will be a Careers Fair in the school on Thursday 8 February from 5.30pm -8.30pm,
open to all pupils and parents/carers.

The Fair is an opportunity for you to find out about different jobs, apprenticeships, college and university courses. You will be able to speak to people working in the jobs you're interested in, or ask universities what subjects you should choose for a particular course, or find out from an apprentice how the subjects they chose at school have helped them in their job.

BGE pupils

S2 and S3 pupils, you will be making subject choices shortly. This is an important time in your education, so being informed about careers will help you make the best decisions you can. Come along and ask questions.

Senior Phase pupils

For Senior Phase pupils, it's getting real now! You need to take charge of your future and find out the options open to you. Not everyone will go on to college or university, so finding out about apprenticeships and employment opportunities straight from school will be of particular relevance to you. Maybe you're looking for a part-time job now. There are local employers attending, so a chance to get your CV out there.

S5/6 pupils will need a back up plan! What will you do if you don't get the qualifications you need? What is your plan B? The Careers Fair is an opportunity to think about different pathways into the career you want.

Skills and qualities are as important as qualifications. Ask employers/interviewers what they are looking for in a successful candidate.

Duke of Edinburgh

We have invited The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to the event. This is a great opportunity for all pupils and parents to learn the benefits of this programme, and for those S3 pupils already started on their DofE journey, a chance for parents to speak directly to school and DofE staff.

Our school-based Careers Advisers will be on hand for drop-in interviews from 7pm.

S1-S4 should attend between 5.30pm and 7pm; S5/S6 between 7pm and 8.30pm.

Full list of exhibitors will be published on the website this week.
