Glasgow Commonwealth Games Badge Scandal
It appeared last night that the new logo for Glasgow's Commonwealth games has a twin. It came to light that the company that designed the badge for the games already designed a very similar badge three years ago. The designers were stunned that the badges were basically the same. Yet claim that the design is still useable as it hasn't been seen in another country.
Both of the badges have a 'G' in the middle and are surrounded by concentric circles. The company initially received £100,000 from the Scottish Arts Council for their 2007 design and another £95,000 this year for what is essentially a very similar idea.
Former Lord Provost, Michael Kelly of Glasgow, suggested that the company should offer a discount on the design fearing that the public may be concerned at the use of public funding on such a project.
