Egg-straordinary Find
A Giant egg which was laid in the seventeenth century and is thought to be the biggest in the world has gone on sale for £5,000.
The egg, with a circumference of more than 3ft, was laid by the Great Elephant Bird of Madagascar. It belongs to antique dealer John Shepherd of Ashford Kent, who bought the egg last year after watching David Attenborough discover it while filming on the island of Madagascar.
The Madagascan Elephant Bird was the only giant bird to exist with man and like many of the world's creatures, man is also to blame for its extinction. The flightless bird, the largest to have ever lived, resembled a heavy built ostrich which weighed about half a ton it had long legs, talons and more than 10ft tall.
With an estimated value of £5,000 it looks like someone is set to receive a rather large and unusual Easter egg this year.
