Google Spy

Recently a new version of Google Earth has been unveiled which enables anyone to view ariel images of their homes, streets and gardens of others. Many doubt the safety of their properties with this idea and fear that the tool will be misused as a prying mechanism.

Google SpyNot so long ago, Google took thousands of images of streets and homes in Britain, and though the original pictures may be blurred, you can buy cheap software online to remove blurs and pixels. Anyone in the world can just type in a street address or postcode and clear pictures of it appear at the click of a mouse. This proves that your home can be on full view to anyone at anytime.

The attack on Sir Fred Goodwin's home yesterday has raised many questions over how vulnerable people have become in the world of technology. His home has been shown many times on the television in the past few weeks, practically advertising it to vandals and criminals. The clear images of his house on Google Earth show views from the front and back, displaying all security measures, such as the alarms, gates and lighting.

Additionally, we must consider the implications of this on other properties. With Google showing clear images of school playgrounds and local parks many people fear that children are now not as safe as some may think in these places. Children have always been vulnerable targets and this is an additional risk.
