Higher Coursework

• Pupils learn two instruments of their choice and aim to perform at a minimum of Grade 4 standard
• They must compose two pieces of music lasting a minimum of 2 minutes
• Listening course is a continuation of the Intermediate course with more musical analysis and score questions.

Pupils are required to sit one formal listening exam at the end of their year for Higher

Practical exams can take place anytime during the months of February and March.

Composition is not graded but must be passed to enable the student  to complete the course.
