Wow! November has flown in! I can't believe that only four weeks ago we had £1 for each team and were let loose on the world.
Some of the highlights were:
- The Micro-Tyco Bake Sale – All teams wishing to sell home baking had to compete against each other to sell their good. Divide and Conquer seemed to be the best tactic.
- The Find-a-cherry-in-a-cupcake event for staff – I was the lucky winner of a box of chocolates for buying the cherry cake. The cake was very yummy too!
- The Trinkets Team and their amazing business plan for making beaded bracelets – They even managed to price their resources and calculate how much investment the members would have to make in order for the venture to be a success! Excellent work!
- And our school’s top earners, 5Stars, who wrote to businesses for raffle donations and sold tickets in school, to family and friends and even got their parent’s to sell tickets in their workplaces! A top money maker and very well organised!
We had a total of 42 teams taking part.
I have to say a huge THANK YOU! to:
- All of the staff in Carluke High School – for all of your help and support throughout this challenge!!!
And thanks also to:
- Mick Jackson – for coming to our school and motivating our senior pupils to get involved
- Carys and Karen from WildHearts – for their advice throughout the challenge
Not forgetting:
- All of the teams who took part in the challenge, gave up their time for a worthy cause and raised a lot more money than I had expected!
It has been an amazing experience. I have loved watching the teams grow in confidence and experience. Quiet and shy pupils are now no longer afraid to speak to adults. After a little coaching, they are now confident enough to approach business owners and ask them to support their efforts. This challenge has definitely brought out the best in the teams involved.
We managed to reach a school total of £1830.53.
Here is a list of our top 5 teams.

As a school we have raised enough money to fund 36 business ventures of people in developing countries around the world. This will positively impact on the lives of nearly 300 people.
Thank you again!
