The level of competition is very high and each game in each sport is contested fiercely but fairly. Pen Y Dre High School (Wales) and Ellis Guildford (England) are designated Sports Schools and as such receive considerable grants to promote sports. St Augustine's College (Ireland) has the national sports coach on their PE staff. The French schools receive funding from the Atomic Energy Industry which is located in their region. Gymnasium Sportif (Czech Republic) is a sports school and selects young athletes from an area the size of the West of Scotland to attend their school. Petyr Cech the Chelsea goalkeeper attended the school.
Apart from the fulfilment of playing international sport, pupils gain immensely from participating in Superschools. They have the opportunity to visit European countries and are exposed to the lifestyles and cultures of our European neighbours. Most importantly they mix with and appreciate the talents of their fellow competitiors. Many friendships are developed and these last years after the pupils have left school.
