PE - Clydesdale Cup - Winners 2025
It has been a busy couple of months in the PE Department. We recently had our S1/2 Sports Day which was packed with outstanding performances in a wide array of athletics events. Each event showcased not just athletic skill, but also the dedication, team spirit, and determination that make our school community so special. This year, Belstane House rose to the challenge with an outstanding performance, which earned them the title of Sports Day Cup winners 2025.
Each year, Carluke High School proudly participates in the Clydesdale Cup, a series of competitions against Biggar High, Lanark Grammar, and Lesmahagow High. This prestigious event brings together our schools in friendly rivalry across a wide variety of sports, including rugby, netball, table tennis, badminton, football, and the grand finale – athletics. This year, over 100 of our S1 and S2 pupils stepped up to represent Carluke High School, competing with determination, teamwork, and school pride. Their outstanding efforts earned us remarkable results: 4th place in rugby and table tennis, 3rd place in netball, 2nd place for boys’ football, and 1st place in badminton, girls’ football, and athletics. These impressive achievements crowned Carluke High as the overall winners of the Clydesdale Cup 2024/2025! This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every single pupil who took part, as well as the support of our PE department.
This year, our girls’ football teams have showcased extraordinary talent, determination, and teamwork across a variety of football competitions. Both our S1/2 and S3/4 teams earned an incredible 1st place in the South Lanarkshire round, securing their place in the prestigious South West Regional Future Stars SPAR Tournament. In addition to this achievement, the S1/2 team managed to win the Girls’ Clydesdale Cup Football Tournament, a proud moment for our school. Finally, we want to recognise the tremendous efforts of our players in the S1-4 South Lanarkshire Schools League. Competing against 14 schools over the course of the year, the girls fought hard in every match, ultimately earning an impressive 3rd place, missing out on 1st place by only 2 points.
