Third Annual YPI Final Showcase

On Monday, Carluke High School held our 3rd annual YPI Final Showcase!
5 teams from across S2 presented to a judging panel on a range of social issues that they advocated for.  They represented 4 different charities (two teams supported the same one) and shared their reasoning for why each charity deserved the £3000 grant available.  The judges had a really hard job to do in choosing between the teams and determining which charity should be gifted the £3000.

The winning team were Chloe Gardiner, Hollie Pllu and Grace Whiteford who represented Care and Repair in Lanarkshire.

All S2 pupils have engaged with YPI this year, supported by Mr. Millar and Mrs. Honeyman in Business and Computing, through the Wider Achievement programme.  Finalists were selected from all those teams who pitched an idea and the finalists were:

Alongside the grant for £3000, the pupils did a more important job - they raised awareness of social issues that affect our community and the charitable organisations that can support.  We have incredibly talented and motivated young people with one team raising over £700 in fundraising themselves, before the final!

A massive thank you to Mr. Millar and Mrs. Honeyman who have worked tirelessly this session to lead this work - many thanks indeed for supporting our young people to shine!
